Tap into beer font and win food and drink
It’s an outstanding piece of expensive engineering, holding no less than 13 beer taps.
the font is the centrepiece of new ayr bar the growler - and the boss wants ayrshire post readers to christen it.
Kenny Macpherson said: “this is a very substantial font and I think you will go a long way to see anything like it.”
“I am looking for something memorable and eye- catching as a name, possibly in the Boaty McBoatface genre, but it could be anything really.”.
He is offering a prize of a £ 50 food and drink voucher for the growler to whoever comes up with the best name.
the growler - a groovy tap house and kitchen with a steel and concrete urban theme - is set to open at the end of May.
the Macpherson family own the entire former Royal Bank of scotland building at Beresford terrace.
the property, dating to the early seventies, has been vacant for eight years.
Kenny said: “the building has quite a brutalist feel to it so we have gone with it.
“It is very stark and industrial inside, more scandinavian than Mediterranean .
“this look has been in our heads for a while as we like clinical lines. rather than clutter.”
the font delivers 13 keg beers on draught, from mainstream lager to some obscure crafty scottish breweries.
the bar will offer “taster paddles” to see if customers like it.
the tap handles are Canadian hardwood and the font was engineered in the eastern Continent.
For a chance of winning the £ 50 voucher send your chosen name to growler Competition, ayrshire post, Nile Court, ayr Ka7 1pX. the deadline is this coming Wednesday, april 25.
