Cairn kids prove their sporting potential
Cairn Primary in Maybole have been getting involved in all kinds of sports recently.
They attended the South Ayrshire gymnastics competition and a group of 10 pupils represented Cairn at this event and had a fantastic day. The pupils all performed brilliantly and one of their teams was placed fourth overall. • Primary 6 and 7 pupils were given the opportunity to attend Ayr Ice rink for a curling session. Both classes participated in some fun games, received expert coaching and had a great time. • Four pupils from Primary 4 represented Cairn at the Prestwick Tennis Club competition, they had great fun and came fourth overall in the tournament. • Four P6 boys represented Cairn at the cluster footgolf competition, and the team of Andrew Allan, Jerome Currie, Kerr Stevenson and Keir McClounie won the tournament. • Cairn P7 pupils represented the school at the Easter bonspiel at Ayr Ice rink and came in second place. They all played brilliantly and had a fantastic time. Kacey Russell was awarded the ‘ top curler’ from all the boys and girls at the festival. • A total of 16 P6 and P7 pupils represented the school at the cross country event at Rozelle park. They ran a distance of 1200m and had a great experience. The event was run by Ayr Seaforth and South Ayrshire active schools and was a great opportunity for pupils to experience running this distance over different terrain. The transport was provided through a cluster fund from NCCBC.
