Attacked wife in bus station
An abusive husband grabbed his wife of 19 years by the throat and shoved her against a wall at a bus station.
Thomas Burrell’s attack caused her to hit her head against the wall at the Stagecoach depot in Ayr.
The 51- year- old, of Dalmellington, assaulted Helen Burrell after a night out drinking in the town.
They made their way to the bus station at 10.30pm to travel home.
Depute fiscal Lindzi Bayne told Ayr Sheriff Court: “The accused grabbed her by the throat and pushed her into a wall. She bashed her head. She walked away asking folk around for help”.
Burrell was remanded in custody after being arrested after the incident on April 7.
Solicitor Gregor Forbes said Helen was uninjured. He said the pair had been arguing before the assault.
He added: “The complainer wants him back.” Sheriff Desmond Leslie said: “This is an unseemly act. I hope there is no repetition.”
He deferred sentencing for good behaviour at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.
