Residents want barriers as travellers move on to seafront
travellers have set up camp agaIN at a prime seafront position in ayr.
Four caravans were parked on the grassy area at the beach beside seafield Drive on Monday in the sun.
One resident said after the caravans arrived: “I saw a woman walking along at the beach in her dressing gown drinking Red Bull.”
the area was packed with dog walkers and folk out enjoying the good weather.
south ayrshire Council has been asked to find ways to prevent them stopping over.
the issue was discussed at last week’s Fort, seafield and Wallacetown Community Council.
Councillor siobhian Brown said residents had been in touch with her asking for bollards to be put in place to prevent them driving on to the grass. she said discussions had taken place about prevention measures but feedback suggested bollards would not solve it.
she said: “It is a vast area to put bollards on.
“I think if they want onto the grass they will find a way.”
last month travellers left their own poo in the dunes.
