Trib­ute to Peg­gie

Pres­i­dent Han­nah McNae wel­comed mem­bers to Stair WI’s AGM at Low Coyl­ton Arms ear­lier month.

She was sad­dened to re­port the pass­ing of long- time mem­ber Peg­gie Mid­dled­itch.

Peg­gie was a stal­wart mem­ber of Stair ru­ral for 70 years. She served as sec­re­tary for 28 years. Her hand­craft and baking skills were out­stand­ing, es­pe­cially knit­ting.

The com­pe­ti­tion Salver was won by El­iz­a­beth McLeish.

The Housewifery goblet was won by Han­nah McNae and Hand­craft goblet by Mary Gem­mell.

Busi­ness was con­ducted and a new vice pres­i­dent, Grace Suther­land, was elected. Made­line Gem­mell re­tired from the du­ties of sec­re­tary af­ter 12 years. Han­nah thanked her for her work and com­mit­ment to the post. Four new com­mit­tee were pro­posed and Made­line Gem­mell, Marie Wil­son, Margaret Brown and Mary Gem­mell ac­cepted.
