Al­loway SWI AGM was held in Al­loway Vil­lage Hall last week.

Re­tir­ing pres­i­dent, Linda Wal­lace opened the meet­ing and busi­ness con­tin­ued with an­nual re­ports from sec­re­tary Margaret McCreath and trea­surer Fiona Crowe.

Linda sum­marised the past year’s ac­tiv­i­ties within the In­sti­tute.

Al­loway par­tic­i­pate in most ac­tiv­i­ties or­gan­ised by Ayr­shire Fed­er­a­tion whether baking, craft, car­pet bowl­ing or the an­nual quiz where a team gained third place.

A baking four­some has been en­tered at Ayr County Show and hopes for good marks.

Linda pre­sented gifts to the prizewin­ners of the monthly com­pe­ti­tions.

Housewifery 1st June Fore­man, 2nd Margaret McCreath 3rd Mar­jory McCracken. In Hand­crafts 1st equal were June Fore­man and An­gela Smith with Margaret McCreath 3rd.

Flower of the month 1st Janette Sco­bie, 2nd Mar­jory McCracken and 3rd An­gela Smith.

Linda handed over to June Fore­man who now be­comes pres­i­dent. Small to­kens of ap­pre­ci­a­tion were given to both Linda and re­tir­ing minute sec­re­tary, An­gela Smith.

Su­san Stu­art be­comes vice- pres­i­dent and Mau­reen Stack­poole takes over as minute sec­re­tary.

This con­cluded the busi­ness part of the even­ing.

Margaret McCreath’s sis­ter, Muriel Blair, was in­tro­duced and she skil­fully showed three dif­fer­ent flo­ral ar­range­ments giv­ing hints and tips as she worked.

The first meet­ing of the new ses­sion will be held in Al­loway Vil­lage Hall on Septem­ber 12.
