Turnberry gents played in the Bob Adamson Trophy, which brought in Chris Savage as winner ( 12) 75 followed by W. Young ( 15) 78, Gordon Rodger ( 4) 79 and Jim Byers ( 7). The results of the recent Girvan ladies competitions are as follows:- the Jenny Robb Trophy winner Arlene McGarragle runner- up Roz McCulloch.
In the Arran Rosebowl Stableford Sandra Deeney came in to win followed by Cecilia Finan. In the May monthly medal, Cath, Ramsey came in to win beating Roz McCulloch. The Handicap Trophy resulted in a win for Susan Low with Anne Bush runner- up. The Cancer Competition played on May 17 resulted in a win for Susan Low with Cath Ramsay runner- up. The Girvan Ladies had an away day at Prestwick St. Cuthberts on May 18 which resulted in joint winners Sandra Deeney and Elinor Heggie both on nett 72, with Veronica Hamilton coming in with nett 75. The next Girvan Ladies tournament will be the Craig Trophy today ( Wednesday). The Girvan gents competed for the Alex Thomson Trophy on Monday, which brought in as winner Michael McMaster ( 9) 65 followed by John McLachlan ( 9) 65, Jim Crawford ( 12) 65 and Andy McFarlane ( 13) 66. Stuart White ( 71) had the lowest gross score of the round. Ayr Probus golf section under the captaincy of Iain McLean came down to Girvan on Monday to take on the local Probus club under Bob Cronie. The Girvan Probus came out as winners by 3 ½ games to 1 ½ games, but this is principally a sociable occasion and the match was followed by an excellent meal in Maggie’s Pantry with all the missed putts debated upon at length. A return match over Ayr Seafield sometime in September has yet to be arranged.
