Action for Dalmellington
Dalmellington is in line for a brighter future following the publication of a new Community Action Plan, which focuses heavily on setting up a Development Trust, to bring together the work of a raft of local organisations.
The new Development Trust will also aim to ensure that Dalmellington gets its fair share of the benefits from major projects in the area such as the North Kyle Forest Masterplan.
The Development Trust proposal was one of six local projects, which won a share of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust’s £20,000 participatory budget for its Reclaiming Our Coalfields Communities initiative, which is a joint venture between the CRT and the Electoral Reform Society.
Sheena Boyd, Development Officer with Dalmellington Community Action Group said:“We plan to use our funding to launch the Development Trust in August or September this year.
“It’s a really exciting initiative which will give Dalmellington a much stronger community voice in deciding how the area develops, and also in helping deliver the New Action plan.”
The official launch of the Action Plan will be held in Dalmellington Scout Hall on Wednesday June 27 at 6.30pm.
The groups that received the funding will be there to speak about their projects, and those attending can find out how they can help deliver the plan’s objectives.
