Hogging all the limelight
Ayrshire Philharmonic Operatic Society (APOS) are going the whole hog with their production of ‘Betty Blue Eyes’ at Ayr’s GaietyTheatre.
They’re travelling back to 1947 where, having won the war, Britain seems to have lost the peace, and the country is staggering under the burden of rationing, unemployment and the coldest winter for decades.
Based on the hilariously funny but sharply observed comic film‘A Private Function,’ ‘Betty Blue Eyes’centres around Betty, an adorable pig, who is being illegally reared to ensure the local dignitaries can celebrate the Royal Wedding with a lavish banquet while the local population make do with Spam.
The production boasts a brilliant storyline with a deliciously infectious, toe-tapping score.
•APOS are looking for new members, singers and dancers of all ages and abilities to come along and join their cast.
Everyone is welcome. Rehearsals take place on a Monday evening from 7.30- 9.30pm at Prestwick’s Glenburn Primary School, Prestwick. Just turn up on the night or contact Jessica Roger (secretary) on 07714 410149 for further information.
