Appeal for witnesses after gang of thugs attack popular Rhys
An upset family this week told how a young man is lucky to be alive after being viciously attacked by five men in Ayr town centre. Rhys McPike suffered two body fractures and needed eight stitches to his face following the assault near the Kyle Centre on sunday at 3am. Posting an image of Rhys’ bloodied face, aunt Donna Kennedy said: “Making his way home from a night out with his friend minding his own business and five monsters attacked him.”
A young man was viciously beaten by a gang of five thugs in an early- morning attack. Rhys McPike was set upon in Ayr town centre near the Kyle Centre, on Sunday at around 3am. Five attackers left him with two body fractures and needing eight stitches to wounds in his face. An appeal for witnesses on Facebook has since gone viral, with more than 1300 shares. Posting an image of Rhys’ bloodied face, aunt Donna Kennedy said: “Making his way home last night from a night out with his friend minding his own business and five monsters attacked him just before 3am outside Ayr Kyle Centre. “We are heartbroken. He is lucky to be alive. “Please, if anyone saw or knows anyone out and about in Ayr last night who might have witnessed this attack get in touch.” Family members said that the attack had left popular Rhys badly shaken. Police have now launched an appeal for witnesses. An Ayr police spokesman said: “Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact us on 101.”
