The Oc­to­ber meeting of Murkirk SWI was held re­cently held with the pres­i­dent, Grace Cowan, open­ing the even­ing.

The busi­ness for the even­ing in­cluded de­tails for the forth­com­ing Fed­er­a­tion Show be­ing fi­nalised.

It was ar­ranged that en­tries would be col­lected on the Thurs­day even­ing for de­liv­ery to Troon on the Fri­day morn­ing.

The pres­i­dent wished our en­trants ev­ery suc­cess for the show.

Our demon­stra­tor for the even­ing, Claire Gall, was then in­tro­duced to the mem­bers. Claire, along with her friend Linda demon­strated the mak­ing of fas­ci­na­tors and the two ladies had each mem­ber work­ing on a piece of spe­cial fas­ci­na­tor ma­te­rial to pro­duce a pe­tal.

Some petals were bet­ter than oth­ers! Claire said she would make up the petals to form a flower and send up to Muirkirk the fin­ished bloom.

Com­pe­ti­tion win­ners were Twid­dle Muff: 1, Sheila Kelly; 2. Mar­jorie Cur­rie and 3, Ella Kirk.

Long­est Ap­ple Peel – 1, Mar­garet Robert­son; 2, Ella Kirk and 3 Madge Whe­lan.
