FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2 BBC SCOTTISH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA conducted by Richard Farnes, 7.30pm, Ayr Town Hall, will play two overtures by Rossini and three operatic arias sung by Victoria Simmonds ( an alteration to the published programme as Christine Rice is indisposed), and Tchaikovsk­y Symphony No. 6 ‘ Pathetique’ after the interval. Tickets at the door: Circle £ 25; Stalls, adults £ 20; students £ 5; School pupils £ 3. Part of the 32nd Ayr Concert Series, this concert is arranged for South Ayrshire Council by volunteers from Ayr Arts Guild.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 26 ORGANIST ENTERTAINS: Iain McGlinchey, Freelance Organist from Helensburg­h who recently delighted the audience when he accompanie­d the silent movie ‘ The Lodger’, will play the fine Lewis pipe organ in Ayr Town Hall, at noon, admission £ 3, though some willingly pay £ 5.
