Haunted house attracts up to 500 spooky children

-

Youngsters in disguise as ghosts and ghouls braved a haunted house last week.

The kids popped on their scariest costumes to step inside the home on Holmston Drive - and boy were they in for a treat.

Screams could be heard as they made their way passed the gatekeeper, through clouds of smoke dodging witches and skeletons on the way.

Many tricks and treats were had along the way as the youngsters reached the other side - clutching a bag full of goodies.

Councillor Chris Cullen said: “We do it every year and get between 400 - 500 kids coming.

“It started in 2009 with the normal decorations and has grown exponentially each year with the kids now making their way in through the front of the house and exiting via the rear with their goodies.

“The house is decorated a week beforehand and is kitted out with lights, props both inside and out, smoke machines.

“And we make up 500 goodie bags every year.”
