Dalmilling on course for new trees and path
Revamp to attract more golfers and walkers
A golf course that was facing the axe under brutal council budget cuts is having a remarkable turnaround.
The Post reported in September 2017 about proposals to shut Dalmilling golf course.
Council bosses wanted to scrap the golf course to make way for houses and a play park.
Bu t t h e S N P- l e a d administration made a U- turn after a public campaign against the closure.
Now council bosses are set swing into action to improve access to the site in to encourage more visitors .
A path is proposed for the perimeter of the course and linking it to the River Way.
A council spokesman said: “This would be c o m p l e m e n t e d b y a programme introducing new trees and plants to enhance Dalmilling’s current layout, making it more attractive to golfers and walkers alike.”
The plans have been backed by Robert Green, secretary of Ayr North Community Council, who said Dalmilling is a fantastic course to play golf.
He said: “Earlier this year they were thinking of closing it.
“Now there will be tree planting.
“We hope that Ayrshire can in the future produce one of the world’s leading golfers.”
