West Coast trip to the bright lights

Ayrshire Post - - Church News - Abi Smillie

Churchgoers wrapped up warm as they made their way through the dragon’s lair and ogre’s swamp at this year’s Illuminight.

West Coast Church members joined hundreds of others on Sunday evening as they walked the one kilometre track at Dean Castle, littered with magical lights and sounds.

Timed lighting shows, including a colourful water feature display, entertained guests.

And funfair rides and crepes were enjoyed after the main event.

Pastor John Smillie said: “We had a great night at Illuminight.

“Around 21 of us joined in the fun at Dean Castle.

“I think it’s important to build on our relationships and friendships outside of a church setting as Jesus himself was big on fellowship.

“So that’s why we planned this event and we’ve got more fun events happening over the coming months.

“It’s just about coming together and enjoying each others company.”
