Double delight for Ayr Indoor

It was a double victory day against Dumbarton as both Ayr Gents and Ladies were victorious.

The ladies picked up a five shot away win, the first of the season, and the Gents with a slightly narrower margin with a four shot win.

Gents results ( Ayr skips first) D Shields 29, M Connolly 9; P Shields 20, R O’Malley 18; B Greenhill 13, J Carruthers 19; S Christie 15, S Hardie 27.

It was not to be a treble with the Seniors playing the local derby game against Prestwick at Prestwick.

After a close run game, the deciding result came in the last end where Prestwick came out on top with a 6157 win ( Prestwick skips first) J Lindsay 13, S Wyllie 14; S Gibson 12, D McKie 13; A Thomson 17, J Henderson 14; M Sturgeon 19, G Jack 16.

Ayr play hosts this Saturday to Coatbridge for the Seniors and Allander for the Gents.

The Gents seek to strengthen their position where they lag behind Auchinleck only on shot difference.

The ladies have no game this week.

In the Scottish Junior Singles Greg Wilson was successful­l in his first game however was second to a strong J Fleming Jnr ( Inverclyde) on Sunday.

The Gents Seniors Fours and Ladies Senior Singles and Pairs travel to Blantyre this Sunday in the nationals.
