United in ticket call for Beith
Ayr United’s Scottish Cup trip to Beith has been made all ticket for travelling fans.
The move comes amid mounting security concerns ahead of the tie on November 24.
United will be handed around 1000 briefs for the Bellsdale clash.
The game, which will kick off at 1.30pm due to Beith having no floodlights, is now the focus of major planning on both sides.
Officials from Beith and Ayr met with police on Friday to discuss logistics.
Concerns include the lack of turnstiles which means fans will hand over tickets at a DESK on entry.
Access in and out of the ground, which sits beside a housing estate, is also proving a headache.
United’s security chief, Roy Provan, confirmed: “It will prove a challenging environment to stage a tie of this nature but we are preparing accordingly.
“With the team doing so well we expect to take a big travelling support and there is a lot of interest around the game.”
It’s understood United could take their own stewards to the 2000- capacity ground.
The club are hoping to have tickets, priced £ 12/£ 6, on sale at Somerset later this week.
