Downsizing to a ten!

Nurse Jan is half the woman she used to be

- Stephen Houston

As she piled into crisps, chocolate, biscuits and fizzy drinks, she piled on the weight.

And Jan Bingham was not just miserable mentally, her body began giving her a rather direct message.

The five foot one inch mum hit 15 stone and her joints began aching and her breathing began to get difficult.

Jan, 42, revealed: “I was becoming very concerned as my breathing was laboured and I was getting out of breath very quickly.

“Health wise 2017 was really poor and my low moods combined with aches and pains where I head never felt them before.”

But in under a year she has transformed her life thanks to WW ( formerly Weight Watchers).

The dress size has halved from 20 to ten and she is now tipping the scales at ten stone and feeling great.

The occupational health nurse, from Coylton, is so relieved she turned the corner after being too heavy for a decade.

She said: “At only 5 ft 1in I also felt like the extra weight I was carrying made me look like a box.

“This made me lose all my confidence, which then in turn led to the low moods, so it all became a vicious circle.

“Seeing my picture at Christmas was just that push I needed to finally do something.

“I decided the time was right to take some control back, and I finally plucked up the courage to join my local Coylton WW workshop, and it was the best decision I have ever made.”

She now eats porridge, berries and fruit, homemade soup and home cooked chicken curry, with WW puffs to snack on.

Jan said: “I like the flexibility of the Smartpoints plan, and loved the fact nothing was off limits. Like many people I was nervous, but the Coach Kelly was fantastic and made me feel welcome and at home.

“The members were also supportive, and I soon made sure that I attended my workshop every week at the Coylton Activity Centre.

“I am now in control of what I’m eating and I’m eating more than I have ever done. I didn’t think I would say that, and still be able to lose weight.”

Husband Gordon and son Jack, 12, are very proud of her, but Jan laughs: “I am buying so many new clothes he’s threatening to cut up my credit cards!”
