Marr Cappella’s Concert “The Journey” will be held in Troon Portland Church and St Meddan’s

Church on Wednesday December 5 and Thursday December 6 at 7.30pm. Tickets £ 8 and £ 4 under 12’ s. These are on sale in The Herbery and Words and Music and from Choir members.

Free activities are offered by Ayr Action for Mental Health in Troon.

Joy Melville, accompanie­d by Aileen Kerr, updated Troon Rotary members on the activities of the busy Beach Clean team. Joy was keen to give credit to the whole team of all ages and to Rotary for financial support. To date 3000 bags of rubbish have been collected, not only from the beach but many other areas within the town. Builders sacks, beach towels, and fishermen’s gloves all present challenges, and beyond that the wider issue of plastic marine pollution.

Bradan Road Sheltered Housing Unit are showing Christmas Movies in December. Come along every evening at 7pm or on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm.

Children very welcome. Tea/ Coffee and juice, biscuits and ice cream at 50p.

The Age of Chivalry is not dead – two 17 year old boys emerged from a local barber completely bald having donated all of their hair to a Cancer Appeal. The boys from Marr College told me that well over £ 1000 has been raised. Their selflessne­ss is to be admired as winter is now approachin­g. Hopefully their hair will have grown in before Christmas.

Applicatio­ns are now open for local community groups and organisati­ons to apply for a grant of

The next date for Hearing Aid Support will be Tuesday December 4 from 1.30pm to 4pm in Troon

Library. This service which provides, batteries, mould tubing and advice on cleaning hearing aids, is free.

ESOL Chat Cafe is held in Seagate Church every Friday from 11.30am until 1pm. This is a wonderful opportunit­y to improve English speaking skills in a relaxed atmosphere.

Sharing a cup of coffee with friends breaks down barriers and helps strangers to mix and feel part of the local community.

The Troon Food Bank is needing supplies of tinned meat and fish, vegetables and main meals. Hand into Troon Old Church Room 2, Tuesdays and Fridays noon until 2pm.
