Beast is a beauty with the high notes

Music from the film Beauty and the Beast will feature at the Ayrshire Symphony Orchestra’s Christmas concerts.

The evening concert at 7.30pm on Monday December 10 will also include Edvard Grieg’s Symphonic Dances, the Gold and Silver Waltz by Franz Lehar and An American in Paris by George Gershwin, along with plenty of festive music and carols.

Special guest violinist Mark Wilson will give a dazzling performanc­e of Zigeunerwe­isen by Pablo de Sarasate.

Conductor John L Wilson and Leader Kathleen Terras invite school age musicians to bring their instrument­s and join the Orchestra to play carols.

The concert will take place in Ayr Town Hall and tickets costing £ 12 upstairs and £ 8 downstairs are available at the door, from Orchestra Members, or from Ayr Guitar, 62 Alloway Street, Ayr.

Also in Ayr Town Hall, there will be a short, fun concert on Sunday 9 th December for toddlers and early primary age children.

The youngsters will be introduced to the various sections of a real live symphony orchestra, and will hear music from Beauty and the Beast.

Sleigh bells will be provided for children to play along with festive tunes.

Doors open at 4pm for a 4.15pm start.

All tickets cost £ 3 and can be obtained at the door or from orchestra members.
