Care duo recognised in awards
Two women have been recognised as among the leading care home employees in Scotland.
Fiona Murdoch and Leslay Eccles have been recognised as among the leading care home employees in Scotland.
The catering staff at Dalmellington Care Centre were nominated in the Nutrition & Eating Well category at the Scottish Care Awards 2018 held at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow, on November 16.
The award was hosted by Michelle McManus, with over 650 people attending.
Fiona and Leslay were thrilled and honoured to be chosen as a finalist in these prestigious awards.
Centre manager Rae Murphy, who nominated the duo, said: the staff were recently awarded the Healthy Eating Award. She added: “All food is supplied fresh.
“We have fresh fruit and vegetables delivered twice a week and home baking seven days a week.
“The staff are also involved with the local community and supply cakes to the over 60s on a Friday where the three local care homes attend and they are a very important part of not only the care home but the local community.”
The awards were hailed a huge success in recognising individuals, teams and companies, who are delivering care at an incredibly high standard in an era of challenging budgets and within an increasingly demanding work environment.
The care awards will follow a full day conference with speakers including the cabinet secretary for Health and Sport, Jeane Freeman.
