A community council is among objectors to the move. Michael Tomlinson, of Burgh Road, has hit out against the plan on behalf of Prestwick North Community Council. His objection claimed changes would lead to an “unwelcome overdevelopment and intensification of an already int e n s i v e l y developed establishment .” An objection from George Wallace said: “I am the adjacent building owner and am unhappy about the close proximity of the new deli and toilet extension to my property.”
A supporting statement from Buzzworks said: “We hope that the alterations to the building will add a significant change to the internal layout of the venue adding new experiences for the customers and keeping the building fresh and up to date. There will be no increased public areas.”
Troon Conservative councillor Peter Convery said: “It think it is a remarkable change. It will certainly enhance the town of Prestwick.”
Prestwick and Conservative councillor Margaret Toner said she was delighted by the plan. She said: “I was always amused by the retractable roof.”
