Concert will help boost festive worthwhile causes

The power of song will help cash in funds for hubs at the heart of their community this festive season.

Salvation Army Ayr Community Church will hold their Christmas Fundraisin­g Concert in the Town Hall next monthraisi­ng monies for worthy causes.

And special guests for the ‘ That’s Christmas to Me’ musical event will feature well loved and popular Dalmelling­ton Band, led by Archie Hutchison.

Leading the Ayr Community Gospel Choir will be the church’s own Bobby Irvine, who is passionate about helping others in the area.

Bobby said: “In the nine years the choir have been in existence we have raised in the region of £ 38,000 for charity.

“We are delighted to have as our guests the superb Dalmelling­ton Band- one of Scotland and the UK’s top brass bands.

“They also carry out great work in their local community especially through their brass tuition programme for young people in the area.

“We are supporting two very local charities this year.

“The first is “North Ayr Thegither”- a small charity that does great work mainly out of Dalmilling Church working closely with Dalmilling Primary School.

“In addition we are supporting the local Salvation Army in Ayr who’s premises in John Street have become a real Community hub providing a base for numerous community groups.

“It is used by the NHS for older people support programmes as well as The Salvation Army’s own programmes such as Digital Skill courses and the Foodbank.”

‘ That’s Christmas to Me’ will take place in Ayr Town Hall on Saturday, December 8 from 6.30pm.

Entrance to the concert is free, but freewill collection­s will take place with funds going to the specified charities.
