Craigie in folk club of the year showdown

-

Craigie Folk Club has been nominated for Club of the Year at the Scottish Traditional Awards.

Craigie Folk Club, which meets in Craigie Village Hall, has been nominated for the award for the high calibre of its performances, not just from Scottish- based artists, but from international singers and musicians. Last month’s performers were on tour from America, while in July they had the world famous duo of Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser and American cellist Natalie Haas.

Their next concert on Saturday December 1 is their Christmas night, always a popular occasion, with four stunning Scottish performers. The Celtic Quines are awardwinning fiddler and banjo player Celine Donoghue, singer Eilidh Grant and flautist and whistle player Katherine McLeod, all superbly backed by Neil Sturgeon on guitar. Each is an accomplished performer in their own right, but when they perform together, the result is breath- taking. Great musicianship, excellent singing, always interspersed with much humour, will make this a superb night of entertainment.

In support are club favourites, Irvine based singer Maureen McAllister and singer and instrumentalist Willie Sinclair.

The event is unlicensed, so please bring your own refreshments and glasses. Tea, coffee and cakes are available at the interval. The evening begins at 8pm. Tickets £ 10 from 07899978736 or pay on door.
