Monkton nursery
A former pub which became a tearoom and gift shop is set to take on a new lease of life.
The now emplty boozer in Main Street Monkton is planned to be transformed into a childrens nursery.
It comes at a time of unprecedented growth in the village. Hundreds of homes in separate developments have been built, are being built or are awating planning permission. The private nursery plan will be decided by South Ayrshire Council at a later date.
In its prime the building was the Wheatsheaf Inn and bar, popular with aircraft workers at Brittish Aerospace.
But with so many young families, a private nursery is being seen as necessary and a good business.
At the moment the nearest places for private nursery care are in Troon and Prestwick.
