The monthly Craft Fair held in the Concert Hall and the Walker Hall this Saturday ( December 1) will be the special Christmas Fair supporting the Ayrshire Branch of Parkinson’s UK. The fair will run from 11am to 4.30pm and entry is free. There will be a total of 70 stalls with a vast variety of handmade items ranging from jewellery, stained glass, paintings, chocolates to soft furnishings, greetings cards and much more.
A tombola is being run by the Ayrshire Parkinson’s branch to help raise funds for their meetings and outings. The craft stalls offer a great opportunity to pick up a special Christmas present at a very reasonable price.
• Marr Cappella’s Concert “The Journey” will be held in Troon Portland Church and St Meddan’s Church on Wednesday, December 5 and Thursday, December 6 at 7.30pm. Tickets £ 8 and £ 4 under 12s. These are on sale in The Herbary, Words and Music and from choir members.
• Bradan Road Sheltered Housing Unit are showing Christmas movies in December. Come along every evening at 7pm or on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm. Children very welcome. Tea/ coffee and juice, biscuits and ice cream at a very reasonable 50p.
• A musical afternoon will be held in St Meddan’s Church Hall on Thursday, December 6 from 1.30pm to 3pm. A Trip Down Memory Lane features country and western, the musicals, Robert Burns and Christmas carols.
• Applications are now open for local community groups and organisations to apply for a grant of up to £ 750. The groups must be involved in activities which help and support individuals with long- term health conditions.

• The next date for Hearing Aid Support will be Tuesday, December 4 from 1.30pm to 4pm in Troon Library. This service which provides, batteries, mould tubing and advice on cleaning hearing aids, is free.
• ESOL Chat Cafe is held in Seagate Church every Friday from 11.30am until 1pm.
This is a wonderful opportunity to improve English speaking skills in a relaxed atmosphere.
Sharing a cup of coffee with friends breaks down barriers and helps strangers to mix and feel part of the local community.
• Birdwatchers please note – the geese are back in the fields below the village of Loans.
Large flocks of pink- footed geese have been joined by lapwing and curlew.
The cold weather in Scandinavia and Iceland results in large flocks flying south to feed in open fields. In gardens near to Fullarton Woods flocks of long- tail tits can be seen feeding on insects amongst the shrubs and trees.
