Townspeople can have a say on who becomes Troon’s new citizen of the year.

The 2018 winner will follow in the footsteps of church toddler group queen Wilma Benson.

Troon Community Council chairman Helen Duff is now seeking nominations for those who have provided “meritorious services for the benefit of the community of Troon.”

The Civic Award has been running since 1979 and men and women who have made a difference in the community have been honoured.

And Helen said: “If people who nominated worthy winners who were not successful in previous years, please put in a new application.”

The winner must live in Troon and nominations should be under 250 words and state why their candidate is worthy.
