Fake cash in Ayr

Residents and local businesses are to be cautious following a circulation of fraudulent cash.

Officers put out the warning after receiving a number of reports of incidents involving counterfeit notes in and around local stores in Ayr.

A police officer said: “I am asking that local shop keepers in particular remain vigilant and take some time to confirm that notes are genuine.

“If you are unsure if the note is genuine or not then do not accept it or consider asking a colleague to check the note before accepting it.”
