‘ Team work made the dream work’
Brothers graduate from the same course
Two brothers who studied the same university programme have graduated together.
Craig and Ross Paterson went through the MBA course while working full time.
And the Prestwick duo, who are long- standing employees at the town’s UTC Aerospace Systems, reckon teamwork helped them through.
Craig, 39, who is Lead Mechanic at UTC, said: “We were essentially sparring partners, having countless discussions, providing each other with moral support, guidance and reassurance.”
The pair studied the MBA programme at UWS.
Ross, 37, added: “We are in a fortunate position that our company offers a funded scholarship programme.
“Both of us have high career aspirations and sought this course out and successfully applied through the funded employee scholarship programme at UTC.”
Starting in September 2016, the brothers attended the MBA programme part- time for two years.
But they admit the balance of holding down a full- time job and studying was a challenge – further complicated by Craig’s partner giving birth ten days prior to starting the course – and Ross’s wife also giving birth prior to the start of his dissertation.
Professor Craig Mahoney, Principal and Vice- Chancellor of UWS, said: “We’re delighted studying at UWS turned out to be a family affair for the Paterson brothers, and we’d like to congratulate them on their graduation from our MBA programme.
“Craig and Ross are another great example of the many routes our students take into higher education, and that at UWS, the support is there to enable university life to fit around our students’ existing career and family commitments.
“A huge well done must go to the brothers and we wish them continued success.”
