Talent at the SWI

Five ladies from ‘ Litereight’, Lesley, Maggie, Greta, Fiona and Helena entertaine­d at the November meeting of Alloway SWI.

They performed a variety of poems, short stories and a ‘ Radio Play’ all written by these talented ladies. There was fun, poignancy and keen observatio­n in all the works making this a very different and enjoyable experience for our members.

Ev e r yone had the opportunit­y to buy books and tea towels featuring their works. Eileen Rosenburgh thanked ‘ Litereight’ on behalf of the members. President June Foreman dealt with business highlighti­ng the success of Linda Wallace and Irene Lewis at the recent Federation Show also noting the forthcomin­g Federation Quarterly Meeting being held in Alloway Church Hall on Saturday December 8 at 10.30am. The competitio­n results were Lentil Soup 1st Janette Scobie, 2nd June Foreman and 3rd Alison Campbell.

Favourite hat and scarf was won by Linda Wallace with Eileen Rosenburgh 2nd and Betsy White 3rd. Flower of the month 1st Janette Scobie, 2nd Gina Struthers and 3rd Anne Griffiths. In December the Christmas lunch will be at the Savoy Park on the 12th at noon for 12.30pm and June reminded everyone to bring a raffle prize.
