Strong victory for the Ayr seconds
From beating the division three leaders last week, the men’s seconds faced the bottom section with several changes to the side.
Clydesdale have a strong attacking potential but a defence that could be exploited on with sustained pressure.
They did exactly that with a strong attacking start causing several problems for the Ayr defence and forcing saves from the Ayr keeper, but then from a strong break the ball was crossed and swept into the roof of the net by Paul Simmons closely followed by a second from Brian Sutherland.
Two- nil up at half time and with various injuries, the team was rearranged but managed to maintain the pressure and score numerous times finishing with a 6- 1 victory allowing Sutherland to complete his hat- trick, and Graeme Penton scoring twice as well from left midfield.
A thoroughly pleasing victory, keeping the team in the top half of the league as we enter the mid- winter break.
Men’s firsts did not have a game this week but the ladies seconds secured a 3- 0 win over Irvine away from home.
The ladies 1sts managed a 2- 0 win on Saturday which was following on from a tough double header the previous weekend ( losing 2- 1 v Edinburgh Caledonian – Jade the scorer and a 4- 1 win over Dundee with Eva, Alice, Claire Parker and Beth scoring).
