Auchinleck gaffer reflects on three Highland trips

-

Tommy Sloan insists he has loved every minute of his Highland tour, but is glad to get back to Beechwood in the next round of the Scottish Cup.

His Auchinleck side ground out a hardfought 1- 0 victory away to Fraserburgh on their third trip up the A9 in as many rounds.

A stunning Stephen Wilson strike in the second- half separated the sides.

Delighted Sloan said: “We were the best side I thought.

“We made plenty of chances, and we scored with a half chance which was a great strike from Stephen.”

This was Talbot’s first clean sheet away from home in the Scottish Cup proper.

Sloan added: “I think the bookies had us at 1/ 10 to concede a goal from what people were saying, as we always seem to let one in.

“So it was important for us that we kept it tight and proved the doubters wrong.

“We had chances to kill the game off throughout, but we couldn’t do that.”

Now Sloan is getting set to entertain his former side Ayr United in the fourthround, with ties to be played on January 19/ 20.
