McCall: We have no fears on telly

- Stuart Wilson

Ian McCall insists Ayr are ready to prove themselves under the Friday night lights.

The Championship leaders face their biggest test of the season at Tannadice live on BBC Alba.

And McCall has warned Dundee United to pay his shock troops plenty of respect.

He said: “Since Rangers beat us at Somerset, we’ve barely lost a game so we’re not on some fluke run.

“As a club, Dundee United should be challenging for the top six in the Premiership.

“But they’re not and we go there full of confidence.

“There is no reason to fear these games and we’ll go there playing our usual way.”

McCall admits the temptation to thrust Craig McGuffie into action is growing following his impressive run from the bench at Beith.

The boss said: “Craig knows what I think of him.

“But when you win the amount of games we have, it is difficult to break into the side.

“However, there’s no doubt he’s a huge talent.”

Alan Forrest returns to the reckoning for Tannadice following injury while Jamie Adams is set for a place on the bench.

Both missed the 3- 0 cup win at Bellsdale where United ran out comfortable winners following a frustrating first hour.

And McCall admits he’s relishing another Ayrshire junior battle.

He said: “Auchinleck Talbot will be a big test.

“They’re probably on a par with the top end of League Two and it’s a great tie for the fans.”
