Phone pest is fined

- Pippa Smith

A man has been hit with a fine for excessively calling his ex- partner.

Kieran Hurt, of Fergus Way, Coylton, owned up to calling Ashley Dunn on multiple occastions on October 31 at Snowdrop Square and Cransbill Court in Ayr.

The 25- year- old also admitted to shouting and swearing at Ms Dunn.

He appeared before Sheriff Scott Pattison at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

Depute Fiscal, Andrew Lazzarin, explained: “The accused phoned the complainer at 10am to speak about something that had been posted on Facebook about him.

“It seems that the complainer did not want to be in contact with him - this caused him to shout and swear. The complainer hung up and contacted the police.

“The accused then contacted her again - he was again told not to contact her.

“He tried, unsuccessfully, to contact the complainer using a withheld number and the last call was answered by the police.

“The accused was asked to attend the police office. He denied saying anything abusive.”

Hurt was fined £ 300.
