SNOOKER

Congratula­tions to Scott Liddell on winning the Dennis Dempsey Memorial Trophy beating Mason Graham 5- 2 in the final, it was a closer game that the scoreline suggests with four frames going to the black ball, Scott won three of them.

Mason had the highest break of the final with a 43, his highest break in the league so far.

Girvan: The Turnberry gents competed for the Sunday medal on November 18 which was won by Ewan Campbell ( 13) 73 ( Bruce Course) followed by A. MacDuff ( 10) 74 and P. Ferguson ( 1) 74 both on the Ailsa Course.. The Saturday medal on 24th. November brought in John Broadfoot ( 5) 70 as winner followed by G. Todd ( 14) 75, P. Keenan ( 1) 75 and J, Byers ( 7) 75 all on the Ailsa course.

BOWLS Auchinleck Indoor

Senior team beat Whiteinch 93- 47 at home. S. Graham 23; J. Fleming 18; E. Duncan 22; T. Woods 30.

This result ensured that Auchinleck Senior Team won the West Division League being five points ahead of Whiteinch, the Senior team have one more game this weekend away to Dumbarton.

Indoor Baird Bowl competitio­n results: Auchinleck outdoor 4, Galston 2; Cumnock 4, Glaisnock Valley 2.

Claire Johnston successful­ly retained her place as an Internatio­nal Skip following the trial at Arbroath, she will play in Internatio­nal Series at Chelmsford, Essex in March 2019.

George Robertson, Mason Carson, Chelsey McCreadie and Sophie Reid played in SYIBA Dales Fours at Prestwick. The junior team were playing in a section of 7 teams, they beat, Prestwick, Ardrossan, Lanarkshir­e, Whiteinch, Falkirk but lost to Alloa. Auchinleck lost to West of Scotland in the semi- final. Ladies and gents teams have no game this week as SIBA Gents and Ladies Triples play downs will be held.

The club will host the South Venue with play starting at 9.30am on Saturday, then 2pm play continuing on to Sunday at 9.30am with quarter- final starting at 2pm. The club will be represente­d in Gents by Alex Fleming, Craig Johnston, and Garry Johnstone, in Ladies the team will be Liz Hume. Elaine McKenzie and Heather Kay Both teams are drawn against Bainfield at Cumbernaul­d, the gent’s game is at 9.30am with the ladies playing at 2pm Bottle bingo is now dated for Wednesday, December 19 at 7pm.

Prestwick

Prestwick Gents found it tough on the road once again as they were beaten 90- 69 away at Tweedbank on Saturday, the defeat leaves the Gents in a dog fight at the lower end of the section and have a real fight on their hands to stay in the division. John Cuthbertso­n and Darren Weir recorded victories but it wasn’t enough to claim the two points. The Ladies side put their home advantage to use as they beat local rivals Ayr 66- 43 at home. With wins on all the three rinks skipped by Rebecca Houston, Betty Hainey and Wilma Ogilvie they now sit second in the section. The seniors remain at the foot of their section following another home defeat on Saturday to Blantyre, they went down 61- 42. All four of the Prestwick rinks were defeated which kept Blantyre at top of the section. This Saturday the Seniors make the short trip to take on Ayr at the Lothian Road Stadium.

On Sunday the club hosted the annual SYIBA Fours competitio­n with kids from all over the country competing for the title. The Prestwick quartet of Emily Houston, Luke Jones, Rachel Houston and Ross Gouldstone failed to win their last group match which would of advanced them through to the semi finals.

Rebecca Houston has been selected as a reserve for the Ladies Internatio­nal Squad after the trial on Sunday at Arbroath. Rebecca will travel with the squad to Falcon IBC in Chelmsford in March.

This Friday night the clubs junior side take on Dumbarton in the first round of the SYIBA Top 10 at home with a 7pm start.

This weekend sees the playdowns of the SIBA National Triples take place at various venues around the country. The Gents triple of Andy Kilday, Craig Lindsay and Paul Foster take on Cowal at Cumbernaul­d on Saturday morning and the Ladies trio of Rachel, Lyn and Rebecca Houston take on Abbeyview at the same venue on Saturday afternoon.
