William gallops off with top award

William Johnstone from Coylton was honoured at the prestigious Magic Moments In Northern Racing Awards ceremony in Newcastle recently.

He won the Owner of the Year award for his horse Euchen Glen winning the John Smith’s Cup at York in July.

The home bred five- year- old also won the Class 2 Sunsport Handicap for the Winton Cup at Ayr in June, which was his fourth success at the track. Trained by Jim Goldie, Euchen Glen picked up an injury in the York race which prevented him from running in the Ebor Handicap in August, although it is hoped that he could contest the 2019 running of that rich handicap.

William ( pictured left) has some exciting prospects among his younger horses too and will be hoping for more success in 2019.
