Troon smash Carnoustie to make cup’s last 16

Troon came out on top in the “battle of the golf courses” as they battered Carnoustie Panmure in a well above- par performanc­e.

Jimmy Kirkwood’s men ran out 3- 1 winners in the fourth- round Junior Cup tie that was called off last week.

A pair of familiar faces were amongst the scorers for Troon.

Former Honest Man Ryan Stevenson and ex- Hearts hitman Christian Nade helped the Portland Parkers into the last 16 with a rout in the opening 20 minutes.

Nade headed home the opener after just seven minutes, before Stevo

doubled the lead with a stunning strike after 15 minutes.

Scott Chatham made it three and killed the tie off.

Troon host KILWINNING on Saturday.

CUMNOCK stay fourth in the league despite losing 1- 0 to Petershill, and Peter Leonard’s men welcome LARGS to Townhead on Saturday.

GLENAFTON lost to Pollok on penalties in their Junior Cup tie as ‘ Lok goalkeeper Jorda Longmuir incredibly saved all three spot- kicks.

Craig McEwan’s men host high- flying table- toppers HURLFORD on Saturday.

CRAIGMARK lost 2- 0 to Irvine Vics as they prepare to host league whipping boys Larkhall, who have failed to get a point on the board and have shipped 73 goals in 13 games. GIRVAN drew 2- 2 with DARVEL as goals from Darren Mitchell and Craig Harvey weren’t enough to stop the Irvine Valley men equalising in the dying seconds.

Girvan host Cumbernaul­d on Saturday, whilst The Vale are getting set for another all- Ayrshire clash on Saturday as they host a WHITLETTS side who lost 3- 0 to Kilsyth.

MAYBOLE’s game was called off and they host Glasgow Perthshire this week. LUGAR also fell foul of the weather, and they host a high- flying Port Glasgow on Saturday. MUIRKIRK’s game also fell victim to the weather and they host Newmains on Saturday. ANNBANK lost 4- 0 to St Anthony’s and now have a free week.
