Call for local food aisle
Supermarkets should have dedicated shelves and aisles for goods created in their local area, according to the MSP.
Shops would be able to point customers to fresh food and drink made locally, supporting nearby smaller firms in the process, claim the Conservative party.
Wellbeing and sport spokesman Brian Whittle argued that it would be an easy change for supermarkets to make.
“Most supermarkets have sections showcasing food from around the world, so why can’t this be replicated for local food and drink?” he said.
