Ayrshire Post - - News -

Mauchline Holy Fair this year is under threat unless they can form a committee.

Now organisers are appealing for both the public and the buisness communities help to make sure this year’s historic event takes place.

Mauchline Holy Fair Group have organised the event for the past five years, and have continually struggled to sustain a committee.

Now a meeting is being held to help to save the event.

It will take place in the village’s Masonic Hall, Loudoun Street, on Wednesday, January 16, at 7pm.

Anyone who has an interest in the ongoing viability of the group and this unique and historic event is urged to attend.

A spokesman for the group said: “The fair was historically linked to Robert Burns who patronised the very early Mauchline Holy Fairs, and is now the biggest event in East Ayrshire. Whether you enjoy the history, the stalls, the music or just the atmosphere on the Day, this does not happen by itself .”
