Big Screen Dreams

-

There’s a different way to watch cinema blockbusters in Prestwick these days.

And it’s all thanks to a go- ahead group of volunteers bidding to break down the barriers for attendance at the movies.

Prestwick’s Demenitia Friendly Group are renowned for their innovative ideas when it comes to those living with the condition.

And their new relaxed cinema concept is just the latest in a long line of projects.

They held a Christmas special screening of Elf at the town’s Community Centre to mark the festive season.

There was even a visit from the man himself as Santa stopped by to check up on preparations for the big day.

Julie Twaddell, of the group’s steering committee, said: “Our Dementia Friendly cinema has been a huge success.

“It’s all about inclusion and making people feel relaxed in their surroundings.”
