SWI meeting
President Isobel Wood recently welcomed 23 members and guests to a special Festive evening at Upper Stinchar SWI.
Lindsay Guidi was introduced to tell the guests all about her Home Cook School, based at Maybole, but covering all over Ayrshire and beyond.
Introducing the evening, former drama teacher Lindsay said: “Tonight is about decadence, and we were not disappointed.
“Home Cook School’s mission is to make cooking at home more fun and accessible by delivering bespoke lessons ( one- to- one or in small groups) to improve cooking skills and knowledge.
“Lessons are designed around each individual with the aim to develop cooking potential.”
Lindsay visits a range of schools, community groups and private homes to give food demonstrations and to cater for private functions.
Recipes for three delicious canapés were explained, created and tasted.
These lovely, bite- sized delights were: mini puff- pastries with spinach, pine nut and feta; smoked salmon mousse on blinis and caramelised red onion and brie crostini.
Elaine Denham kindly volunteered to be Lindsay’s Assistant Chef for the evening, and was kept busy throughout the demo, helping to create a wonderful array of festive bites.
Maggie Bunnett and helpers gave the hall a festive feel, and served teas, coffees, wine and soft drinks with the canapés, adding crisps and lovely cakes to the feast.
