Youth bid to re­cruit in 2019

DYW Ayr­shire are keen to sup­port as many young peo­ple as pos­si­ble to ful­fill their po­ten­tial.

With that in mind, the group has been meet­ing with Ad­di­tional Sup­port Needs ( ASN) schools in Ayr­shire to dis­cuss how they can help.

They are go­ing to run a ca­reers event at the Park School in Kil­marnock and a com­bined event for four North Ayr­shire ASN schools ( Haysholm, Stanecas­tle, James Reid and James MacFar­lane) in Fe­bru­ary 2019.

The event will be held at Grange Cam­pus on Mon­day, Fe­bru­ary 4 from 9am - 12pm.

Pupils from P7 to S3 will be in­vited to come along to hear from em­ploy­ers about pos­si­ble path­ways in to work.

And the par­ents and car­ers will be in­vited to a pre­sen­ta­tion about the sup­port avail­able to them and their fam­i­lies to help the young peo­ple into em­ploy­ment.

Mean­while, Stanecas­tle School in Irvine is host­ing a ca­reers event on Tues­day, Fe­bru­ary 19 and will also in­vite young peo­ple from James Reid, James McFar­lane and Haysholm schools.

This is the third year the school have run the event with the pur­pose of show­cas­ing both pupils and their par­ents/ car­ers of the types of em­ploy­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties that could be achiev­able.

The morn­ing ses­sion runs from10am - 12.30pm with an af­ter­noon ses­sion fro 1.45pm - 3pm. In­ter­ested busi­nesses can get in­volved to of­fer a taster to pupils.
