Royal surprise at Tea Dance event
Hundreds of guests received a royal surprise while busting a move at a Tea Dance at Dumfries House.
Prince Charles said hello to 200 guests last month- who had no idea he was in town.
The tea dance event is held every three weeks at the Cumnock estate to counter loneliness and social isolation within Ayrshire as older members of the community and adults with additional support needs are invited for a cuppa and catch up.
And it wasn’t just a Prince who entertained guests as the King was also in the house.
Muirkirk’s UK No. 2 Elvis impersonator popped on his blue suede shoes and wowed guests with some top hits.
Shiona Johnston, Integrated Health and Wellbeing coordinator for The Prince’s Foundation at Dumfries House, said: “Our tea dances take place every three weeks and are always very successful. Through the tea dances, we aim to help tackle social isolation in Ayrshire.
“The guests look forward to coming along to Dumfries House and socialising with our butlers and events staff.
“Many have also made friends at this event and now arrange to meet them regularly.
“None of them knew that His Royal Highness was due to attend so it was a lovely surprise for them just before Christmas.”
