Give us a break over New Year resolutions
Pledges to change our lives in 2019
Have you broken your’s yet? The tradition of a New Year’s resolution does seem to live on. But it appears there is a high belief that most will fail.
Jevan Dunn, 19, from Ayr, was clearly focussed. “I want to eat more,” he said.
“So far it is going well. I don’t make a resolution every year, but this time it is different.”
Caitlin Storie, 19, also from Ayr , has a common hope, saying: “My resolution is to get more healthy. I’m not really a gym person, so I am going on more walks and be outside more.”
Retired Ayr minister Colin Mutch, 65, takes a sceptical view.
He said: “I’d rather not make them and then fail. “I have my own aims and goals rather than an actual resolution. Years ago I used to make the usual one of losing weight. This has still not happened.”
Wine- lover Margaret Crampsey, of Kings Park, Glasgow pledged to have a battle with the grape, red or white. She claimed do be doing well, but then listed a number of events since Hogmanay that she has popped the cork.
Margaret said: “I pour a large glass every day and don’t even think about it. I had wine on Sunday but am having some today because I am meeting my friend from Alloway. But I am stopping that large daily glass.
“Honest, hic.”
