TAEKWONDO

Twenty nine students from Troon TaeKwonDo were recently graded along with their fellow students from other TAGB from across Ayrshire.

All passed their gradings, some with exceptionally high pass marks.

The club has come a long way since opening in September 2017 and now has over 40 registered students, some of who train up to four hours a week.

Club instructor, Iain Harley, said: “I am very proud of our students and how they prepared for this grading.

They all work exceedingly hard in the sessions on the run up to the day itself and the fact that they all passed shows that this hard work has paid off.”

This was not the only good news for the club, they were awarded £ 5,000 funding by The Weir Charitable Trust in order to purchase sparring equipment for the students.

Iain would like to personally thank the Trust for this generous funding which will allow every student to have their own equipment to use during training sessions and at the various local and national competitions throughout the year.

Meantime on the racing front, Round 3 of the Super Quaich Series continued on Sunday, with two Ayrshire riders performing extremely well.

Young Junior Harry McGarvie of Ayr Burners, finished sixth overall in the main event against riders much more older and experienced.

Harry also finished second in the Junior Rankings.
