Malawi partners get set for top tour of Ayrshire

Visitors will celebrate with fun- filled Scottish night

Alloway Parish Church is gearing up to welcome partnering head teachers from across the globe next month.

Following the success of the Alloway Malawi Mission 2018, the church, in partnershi­p with Alloway and Doonfoot Primary Schools have invited two head teachers from their partner schools in northern Malawi to visit Ayrshire in March.

Ernest Chirwa and Francis Juma from Bandawe All Girls Secondary School and Bandawe Primary School will embark on a tour of Ayrshire from March 6 - 19.

A full itinerary has been organised including working with and observing the teachers and head teachers across local schools including Belmont Academy and Wellington School.

Visits to Culzean Castle and Ayr Hospital have also been arranged for the special visit .

The duo are very excited to meet the provost Helen Moonie and also the director of Lifelong Learning of South Ayrshire Council.

Ernest Chirwa and Francis Juma will attend worship at Alloway Parish Church on both Sundays, and will join families at Messy Church on March 9.

A fun- filled community “Scottish Night” with ceilidh dancing, entertainm­ent and a quiz will be held in the church halls on Saturday, March 16 from 6.45pm – 9pm, to really make the visitors welcome.

Alloway and Doonfoot pupils are excited to meet the head teachers and to learn more about their friends from Malawi.

Mr Juma and Mr Chirwa will attend the wonderful Pop UK recording, with concerts set to be held in the church on March 14. And they will be able to take back photograph­s and videos to share with their pupils, as well as a copy of the CD recorded by Alloway youngsters to share with their schools, church and communitie­s.
