Appeal after brutal attack

-

A 62- year- old man remains in hospital after a brutal beating close to a string of pubs in Ayr’s River Street.

He was seriously injured after being assaulted by two thugs around 7.30pm on Sunday night.

He was taken to Ayr Hospital where he is receiving treatment for a head injury. His condition is described by hospital medical staff as being stable.

The men responsible are described as wearing dark clothing.

One of them was possibly wearing a baseball cap and carrying a crutch or a walking stick. Detective Inspector Alan Paterson said: “I believe the man who was assaulted had been in a nearby pub before he was attacked.

“I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch. Or anyone who may have been driving past and captured anything relevant on a dashcam.”
