Ref assault is denied
A former football manager has denied assaulting a referee.
Paul McColl, of East Greenlees Gardens in Cambuslang, faces charges of assaulting referee Calum Scott at Loch Park Football Stadium, New Cumnock, during a match between Glenafton Athletic and Cambuslang Rangers, who the accused used to manage.
Court documents claim the 49- year- old entered the pitch and repeatedly approached Mr Scott, behaved in an aggressive manner towards him, shouted and swore at him and uttered threatening, abusive and homophobic remarks.
It is alleged McColl also uttered threatening remarks regarding Mr Scott to others.
A separate charge claims McColl assaulted the referee by striking him on the body with his hand to his injury.
McColl denies all charges.
