Gucci guy is free
A thief who stole a bottle of Guilty Gucci perfume has been scentenced.
Geoffrey Muirhead was initially remanded in custody after pleading guilty to the offence.
But, after his latest appearance in the dock, the 39 year- old was given an opportunity to change.
At the initial hearing, Ayr Sheriff Court was in fits of laughter when it was revealed Muirhead nicked nearly £ 100 worth of Gucci Guilty.’
Muirhead, of Davidson Place, Ayr, admitted stealing £ 95 worth of the scent from Debenhams, in Ayr Central, on July 22 this year.
When the case returned to court for sentencing last Tuesday his John Gallagher, said his client had cooperated with the written report.
And Fiscal Depute Laurin Campbell said there was a “full recovery” of the stolen goods.
Mr Gallagher told Sheriff Mactaggart : “The report, despite his record of convictions, is generally good.
“Since being remanded he feels he’s in a good place ( health- wise) and now has the opportunity to break the cycle.
“A community payback order might be more challenging and he knows if he breaks that order he will go straight back into custody.”
Addressing Muirhead, Sheriff Mactaggart said: “I will give you a chance.
“If you don’t take it, you will go back into custody.”
Muirhead was sentenced to an 18- month community payback order.
