Going for grain at the Port of Ayr
The Port of Ayr has opened a 43,00 sq ft bulk grain storage warehouse, the Bute Terminal to support Scotland’s agricultural sector. Welcome speeches were delivered by Bill Grant MP, Andrew Harston, Associated British Ports) Regional Director and Andrew Mackay, chief executive at Cefetra Ltd – a major importer of grains. The Bute was built by Minishantbased 3b construction.
The terminal is part of a number of enhancements in port facilities, including cranes and infrastructure. Andrew Harston, ABP’s Regional Director, said he was delighted to open the agri- bulk warehouse. He said: “This development demonstrates our ongoing commitment to supporting South West Scotland’s farming community and helping facilitate economic growth in the region.”
The opening follows ABP’s contract with Cefetra, the leading Scottish trader of grains and animal feed raw materials, which is set to strengthen its position as the agricultural trade centre.
